Hike to the Jakobskreuz
Es ist noch früh, als ich mich auf den Weg zur Wanderung zum Jakobskreuz mache. Es ist das grösste begehbare Gipfelkreuz der Welt und bietet mit einer Höhe von über 30 Metern eine grandiose Aussicht über die Ferienregion und lädt zum Innehalten und Verweilen ein. Mit der Pillerseetal Karte in der Tasche, ist für mich der Eintritt ins Jakobskreuz frei. Diejenigen, die den Gipfel lieber schneller erreichen möchten, bietet sich die bequeme Option des Sessellifts an, der einem sanft über die Wiesen trägt, während die Bergwelt in all ihrer Pracht vorbeizieht.
It’s still early when I set off on the hike to Jakobskreuz. It is the largest accessible summit cross in the world and with a height of over 30 meters offers a magnificent view over the vacation region and invites you to pause and linger. With the Pillerseetal card in my pocket, the entrance to the Jakobskreuz is free for me. For those who prefer to reach the summit more quickly, there is the convenient option of the chairlift, which carries you gently across the meadows while the mountain world passes by in all its glory.
SUP Action on Lake Pillersee
Der Pillersee ruht vor mir, sein türkises Wasser verlockend und einladend. Ein Stand Up Paddle Board wartet darauf, auf die Wasseroberfläche gebracht zu werden, und obwohl das SUP nicht in der Pillerseetal Karte enthalten ist, erlaube ich mir diese kleine Freude. Die Stille wird nur von den rhythmischen Paddelschlägen durchbrochen, während ich mich auf dem glitzernden Spiegel des Sees fortbewege. Lake Pillersee rests before me, its turquoise waters enticing and inviting. A stand up paddle board is waiting to be brought to the surface of the water, and although the SUP is not included in the Pillerseetal card, I allow myself this small pleasure. The silence is broken only by the rhythmic paddle strokes as I move along on the glistening mirror of the lake. A moment of peace and harmony, surrounded by the splendor of nature.
Lunch at Forellenranch
Ein verlockender Duft führt mich schliesslich zur Forellenranch am Pillersee. Hier verzaubert mich der zarte Geschmack von frisch gefangenem Fisch, zubereitet mit meisterlicher Hand. Die kulinarische Reise durch die regionalen Aromen ist eine wahre Liebeserklärung an die Region.

Ski Resort Fieberbrunn
Die strahlende Sonne des nächsten Tages begrüsst mich in Fieberbrunn. Was im Winter als Skigebiet dient, erstrahlt im Sommer als malerisches Wanderparadies und Oase für Naturliebhaber. Der Streubödensee lädt zum verweilen ein oder dient als erfrischende Abkühlung. Doch auch Adrenalien Junkies sollen hieroben nicht zu kurz kommen. Ich wage mich auf den Timoks Alpine Coaster und die rasante Fahrt durch die alpine Landschaft beginnt.
The bright sun of the next day greets me in Fieberbrunn. What serves as a ski resort in winter, shines as a picturesque hiker’s paradise and oasis for nature lovers in summer. The Lake Streuböden invites you to linger or serves as a refreshing place to cool off. But also adrenaline junkies should not come up short here. I venture onto Timok’s Alpine Coaster and the rapid ride through the alpine landscape begins.
Triassic Trail at Steinplatten
Steinplatten, ein weiteres Juwel des Pillerseetals, empfängt mich mit offenen Armen. Der Triassic Trail versetzt mich zurück in die Zeit der Dinosaurier, während ich auf den Spuren dieser prähistorischen Giganten wandere. Die zahlreichen Dinosaurier Installationen und Informationstafeln machen diese Wanderung besonders kinder- und familienfreundliche. Die atemberaubende Aussichtsplattform belohnt meine Anstrengungen und eröffnet ein Panorama, das die Sinne überwältigt.
Steinplatten, another jewel of the Pillerseetal, welcomes me with open arms. The Triassic Trail takes me back to the time of the dinosaurs as I walk in the footsteps of these prehistoric giants. The numerous dinosaur installations and information panels make this hike especially kid and family friendly. The breathtaking viewing platform rewards my efforts and opens up a panorama that overwhelms the senses.
Where to Stay? – Hotel and Chalets Grosslehen
Inmitten dieses Naturparadieses finde ich meinen Rückzugsort im Hotel und Chalets Grosslehen. Die zentrale Lage macht das Hotel zum idealen Ausgangspunkt für all meine alpinen Abenteuer, wo man abends gerne zurück kehrt. Nach einem strengen Tag lasse ich hier im Spa Bereich den Tag ausklingen und springe nach jedem Sauna Gang in den idylischen Naturteich.
In the midst of this natural paradise I find my retreat in the Hotel and Chalets Grosslehen. The central location makes the hotel the ideal starting point for all my alpine adventures, where it is a pleasure to return in the evening. After a hard day, I wind down here in the spa area and jump into the idyllic natural pond after each sauna session.
